When it comes to unwanted drones in your airspace, security is a process not a technology. However, this does not mean technology doesn’t play a critical role. After all, you need reliable intelligence to act on in the first place, right?
Not all drone detection technology is created equal. Some systems only tell you where the drone is. Others also provide the pilot’s location so you can take action in the moment and stop the threat. Surprisingly, some can’t track multiple manufacturers’ devices at the same time.
7 Factors to Consider When Selecting a Drone Detection System
Drone detection technology represents a substantial investment that must match your risk level, tolerance and goals. Organizations should evaluate their current threat level and understand the drone detection regulatory environment before they begin technology evaluations.
But to reiterate, technology is only one part of the process. What you do with that technology is more important. As you begin your drone threat mitigation journey, contemplate the following question early and often: “The system detected a drone. Now what?” early and often. Don’t wait until the system has been installed to consider operations and training. The answers may affect your deployment strategy.
The larger security ecosystem is so critical we have gathered subject matter experts from different organizations who will speak about each critical area of the drone detection technology process in an educational webinar series.
