How do you apply? Each site must show that there is a vulnerability, the consequences of a UAS-related incident, their UAS response plan and their security measures including Remote ID receiving capability to help enforce the UAFR, along with other required data by the FAA.

The FAA Recognizes Two Categories:

  • Standard UAFR: Prohibits unauthorized drones within the facility perimeter while still allowing certain approved activities (maintenance, inspection, etc.) under proper authorization. Best fit for facilities that need consistent protection but occasionally require legitimate drone access.

 

  • Special UAFR: Applies to high-threat sites like federal facilities and military installations. Restrictions are near-total, with very limited exceptions even for authorized activity.

What is Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR)?
